Back Keys Frontman Explains He Did Not Own Lock Of Dylan's Hair
Remember when it was reported last year that one of the assets listed in the divorce settlement of Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach and his wife Stephanie Gonis was named "Bob Dylan Hair"? Well, according to TMZ, the mystery of just what that was has been solved. Auerbach himself explained that the item was not an actual lock of the legendary artist's hair, but in fact a poster.
Auerbach said, "It wasn't a lock of Bob Dylan's hair. You know that famous old poster of Bob Dylan -- it's multiple colors, psychedelic, with the big afro? We just labeled that 'Bob Dylan's Hair.' It was just a poster."
Auerbach added, however, that thanks to the original story, he can now obtain a strand of Dylan's hair if he wants one. He revealed, "Actually Bob Dylan's son read that. He texted me and said, 'If you really need a lock of his hair, I could probably get it for you.' I'd get it for free, man."
Auerbach and Gonis' divorce was finalized in August 2013, with Gonis receiving $5 million, a 2012 Toyota Highlander, one of their homes -- and the poster.
Auerbach filed for divorce last February, claiming that Gonis attempted suicide in front of their daughter and tried to burn down their house. He retains custody of the five-year-old girl, named Sadie.
The Black Keys have some European festival appearances lined up this summer and are likely to release the follow-up to 2011's El Camino sometime in the first half of this year.
