Paul Simon And Sting Meeting In January To Decide Format For Joint Tour
Paul Simon hinted that his upcoming joint tour with Sting might feature some extended team-ups between the pair. Simon, who is currently working on the followup to 2010's So Beautiful Or So What, told Rolling Stone that he and Sting will meet in January "to plot out a set list and format for the show." Simon and Sting, who've never toured together, kick off the 12-date jaunt on February 8th in Houston, Texas and wind things down on March 16th in Orlando, Florida.
Simon explained that the pair need to iron out how the show is going to flow, night after night: "There's a possibility of us being on the stage at the same time. There are a lot of interesting ideas, all of which will be talked about next month. But it has the potential to be something special. From what I heard at the benefit for the Robin Hood Foundation, the combination of our voices can be really beautiful."
Paul Simon, like many of his peers, has learned to weather the dry periods that come with any multi-decade career: "If you're a musician, you just love to play music, and the generations change and no one wants to hear what you're playing, what do you do -- if that's what you do? It applied to a lot of people I knew -- even very, very big stars. Y'know, internationally known stars, who, y'know, like, don't make hits -- even though they still make records, don't make hits. And how do you adjust to that? And of course, y'know one does adjust to that -- I mean it's a part of as we say, growing up." :
