Former Grand Funk Railroad leader and guitarist Mark Farner is back with a new single available for download, called, "Take You Out." Farner, who was the man responsible for such Grand Funk classics as "I'm Your Captain (Closer to Home)," "Are You Ready," and "Footstompin' Music," among many others, called upon the same muse for "Take You Out" that drove him to write the majority of Grand Funk's incredible catalogue.
Farner gave us the back-story on "Take You Out": "My motivation for writin' the song, was like, seein' this guys who's standin' across the floor and lookin' at this woman who's dancin' and really lookin' fine and he wants to take her out, but he's he's not a dancer. He's just imaging himself in his head, saying, 'I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna dance real sexy, I'm gonna do all these things' -- but, he's so timid, he just can't. And she's just lookin' so fine that he don't think he can -- but at the end, dude, he walks out with her. And it's a song intended to get men up off their ass and get up on the dance floor. Even if you can't dance (laughs). Seriously -- women want men to dance!"
