Bruce Springsteen Working On 'The River' Box Set, Album Remasters
Yet another Bruce Springsteen box set is in the works. In a new chat with Rolling Stone about his upcoming album, High Hopes, due out on January 14th, Springsteen's manager Jon Landau was asked about a possible Born In The U.S.A. box set to tie in with next spring's 30th anniversary. Landau revealed that several projects currently in the works: "There's ongoing work on a River box set. Maybe we’ll do that first. And we're doing some remastering work on his first two albums (1973's Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J. and The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle) as we speak. Those will be forthcoming."

Springsteen spoke about upcoming roadwork and was pressed about a return to the U.S. having not played in the States since late 2012. Springsteen said: "We're looking around now to see what we might do. I don't want to say 'yes' because I don't want to disappoint people, but I certainly don't want to rule it out either. We're looking closely out at since there's places we missed on the last tour. We didn't get to Texas, where I love to play. We didn't get to Florida either. It might be fun to get back to some of those places."

We caught up with Steve Van Zandt and asked him about Springsteen bumping him up from merely buddy and second guitarist in the E Street Band to co-producing 1980's sprawling rock masterpiece, The River: "At that point Bruce asked me to co-produce because it was time to make a real band album. And we had suffered the comparison between our records and our live show all along, and it was just time to fix it, y'know? It took us five albums to really figure out how to capture that live thing on record. And part of it was recording live -- but that wasn't as live as Born In The U.S.A., which was literally live."
Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band kick off their 2014 tour dates on January 26th, 28th, and 29th in Cape Town, South Africa.
