Kiss Tops Official Rock Hall Fan Ballot
The votes are in for the general public's single vote on the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ballot, with Kiss topping the list. Vintage Vinyl News reported that a grand total of 1,390,504 votes were received with Kiss snagging 239,417 of them -- which amounts to an impressive 17.2 percent of the vote. Coming in second was Nirvana with 15.69 percent, Deep Purple at Number Three with 11.93 percent, Yes at Number Four with 10.88 percent, and Daryl Hall & John Oates rounding out the Top Five with 8.10 percent of the votes. The public's single vote will be tallied in with the 600-plus voting Rock Hall voting members when deciding the 2014 class.
2013 marked the second consecutive year where members of the public were invited to vote alongside the artists, historians and music industry insiders that make up the Hall of Fame's voting body.
Voting ended on December 10th on, with the Top Five acts compiled from those votes onto a "fan's ballot" that will count as one of the more than 600 total ballots turned in.
Gene Simmons has often been the first to credit Kiss' legions of fans for their success and admits that the love and support the band has been given by their "Kiss Army" remains beyond their wildest imaginations: "Kiss fans are beyond anything we ever dared hope for, in terms of fans. We were gonna be happy with just being able to sell a record and, and doing our music, but to get this kind of loyalty is beyond anything we ever expected."
