Billy Joel To Make 'Major Announcement For 2014' During Tuesday's Press Conference
Billy Joel is making "a major announcement for 2014" on Tuesday (December 3rd) at New York's Madison Square Garden. Fuse TV announced that the hour-long press conference, which will include a "few special guests in attendance," will run live on Fuse at 11 am ET, with the event being streamed on both MSG.com and BillyJoel.com.
Fans are chomping at the bit for the news, which some are hoping will be the announcement of his first new album since 1993's River Of Dreams, but understand it'll probably be the full itinerary for his 2014 tour. Some industry insiders -- including the gang at Rolling Stone -- are saying that Billy -- who has single dates booked at the Garden in January, February, March, and April -- will be playing full album shows for the remainder of the months.
Shortly before his death earlier this year, longtime Billy Joel producer Phil Ramone told us that he felt Billy's return to rock n' roll songwriting is bound to happen soon: "I think he's about to reach the age of 62, or something . . . I think he, versus, let's say, Elton (John) -- Elton did not wanna go through this ghost period of having, y'know, not having three Number One records, and the tours are successful and he tried, from my point of view, Billy tried his classical thing, which did what it was gonna do. And I've always challenged him and said, 'You don't have to risk and look back.'"
