Bob Dylan Premeiring First Official 'Like A Rolling Stone' Video Today
Nearly 50 years after it's 1965 release, Bob Dylan's epic single "Like A Rolling Stone" will get its first officially sanctioned music video. As a tie-in to the release earlier this month of Dylan's 47-disc box set, The Complete Album Collection Volume 1, the video will premiere today (November 19th) on Dylan's official website, BobDylan.com.
The Associated Press reported: "The video will allow viewers to switch between 16 different story lines that mimic television channels. The actors and hosts on each of these channels lip-sync the lyrics to the song and viewers can move from one to another during the song seamlessly. There is a Dylan channel as well that features vintage footage."
Rolling Stone associate editor, and Dylan connoisseur, Austin Scaggs -- the son of the legendary Boz Scaggs -- was asked why Dylan continues to confound audience goers by changing the melodies to his classic tunes -- including "Like A Rolling Stone" -- live in concert: "Singing the song the same way every night, and hearing people sing along to it, it's gotta be a little boring after awhile. I mean, of course, y'know, that first experience, or those first experiences where people are actually singing your words, I mean, it's gotta be an exhilarating thing."
