Jimmy Paige Releases Led Zeppelin - Notorious B.I.G. Mash-up 'Rambalize'
Jimmy Page has released a "mash-up" of the 1969 Led Zeppelin II classic "Ramble On" with the late rapper Notorious B.I.G.'s 1996 hit "Hypnotize," to produce the new track, "Rambalize." Ultimate Classic Rock reported on the cut, which was uploaded on Friday (November 15th) to Page's website (JimmyPage.com), saying, "'Rambalize' features the late hip-hop star rapping his hit on top of Page's famous acoustic guitar part. Samples of Robert Plant’s vocals are used as accents, most notably the line, 'Sometimes I grow so tired.'"
Jimmy Page feels that any artist needs to keep evolving in order to leave behind a true body of work: "I think you get measured up by, y'know, what you do, what you produce as far as your music goes, 'cause that's how you're gonna be measured up. And I guess that's what I'm gonna be, y'know, what I have to do, is to make that sort of statement. For me, it's almost like the same picture with a different frame."
