Abba To Reunite In 2014???
In a case of "we'll believe it when we see it," ABBA's Agnetha Faltskog (pronounced Aneetha FAULTS-kog) says that plans are underway for some type of 40th anniversary reunion by the '70s pop sensation, according to Vintage Vinyl News. Faltskog, who recently launched a comeback told the German newspaper Welt Am Sonntag: "There seem to be plans to do something to mark this anniversary in some way. But I can't say at this point what will come of them."
Faltskog went on to say that she doesn't dwell on the group reuniting, saying, "That eats up too much energy. Don't just think about it, just do it. . . We're all getting older. I can't imagine going onto the stage on crutches. I dream often lately of the other three members of ABBA. They are good dreams . . . ABBA is a big part of all of us still."
Although they never officially broke up, ABBA -- Benny Andersson and ex-wife Frida Lyngstad (pronounced Freeda LING-stod), Bjorn Ulvaeus (pronounced Byorn OOL-vase) and ex-wife Agnetha Faltskog -- have not recorded or performed together since 1982.
The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010, with Andersson and Lyngstad attending to represent ABBA.
Benny Andersson admits that over 30 years after calling it quits, he's still amazed at the hold ABBA has over its international fan-base: "I think the major thing is that if you're a band and you have a record out and it becomes a hit and you have a next one -- and you do that for nine consecutive years and you have one-or-two major hits around the world -- it's pretty unavoidable to stir up some dust, isn't it? I think that's one of the reasons -- and why it is I don't know. I don't know why. (Laughs) But I'm very grateful that this is the case, y'know?"
