Happy Birthday Neil Young!!!
Happy Birthday to Neil Young, who turns 68 today (November 12th)!!! Earlier this month, Young announced a four-night run at New York City's legendary Carnegie Hall. Young's Carnegie Hall dates are set for January 6th, 7th, 9th and 10th. There's been no official word on whether Young will be joined by Crazy Horse, other supplemental musicians, or will be performing on his own acoustically.

In October, Young reunited with David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash, at his annual Bridge School Benefit in Northern California. Nash has gone on record as saying that feels as though a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young tour may be in the cards for 2014.

Coming on November 26th is Neil Young's latest vault release, called Live At The Cellar Door 1970. The set is part of his ongoing "Performance Archive Series." The acoustic collection is culled from Young's six shows recorded at the Washington, D.C. venue on November 30th, December 1st and 2nd, 1970 -- with an early and late show each day.

In 2012, Young published his long awaited autobiography, Waging Heavy Peace, and scored two back-to-back Top Ten albums with Crazy Horse -- Americana, which was released in June and peaked at Number Four and Psychedelic Pill, which entered the Billboard 200 charts at Number Eight.

Graham Nash says that making music with Young as part of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young has always led to fascinating results: "I love to make music with Neil. It's very different with Neil. Y'know, it's a very different band -- there's more edge, it's darker, it's funkier. It's just different."

Crazy Horse guitarist Frank "Poncho" Sampedro says that despite Young's constant need to shake things up by playing with different musicians, he seems to consider the band his musical home: "When you look at it, there is only one band that Neil continues to play with. He's played with a lot of different bands, but I'd have to say that we are, overall, the most consistent of all the bands he's played with -- even though he's played with Crosby, Stills & Nash quite a bit, but I think he's even played with us more than them."

Longtime friend and fan Jimmy Page feels that with Young's voice, guitar work, and songs, he presents a perfect musical package: "We've all loved Neil Young, probably since the very first time accessing him in the Buffalo Springfield. I do love people that you know who they are straight away -- especially with guitar players, as well. You can recognize their guitar playing. To be able to recognize a guitar player -- which you do with Neil. I mean, you just know Neil Young's guitar style, and then you know his vocal, and his songs are profound. Y'know, and he's got such a fine, fine body of work that you can do nothing more than just. . . I told it to his face, he's the artist's artist."
