Linda Rondstadt Recalls Legendary '70s Stage Outfit
Linda Ronstadt didn't shy away from anything in her new autobiography, Simple Dreams: A Musical Memoir -- including her legendary '70s stage outfits. Ronstadt, who was always a reluctant sex symbol, touched upon one of her most infamous outfits -- a cub scout uniform that she took to wearing in concert.
We caught up with Ronstadt, who admitted that although eye caching -- the uniform also was practical: " We were just shopping in the second hand store, y'know, with second hand clothes and we went, 'Oh these are cute.' Y'know, it was like a practical thing, it was like, what can you wear onstage that looks kinda cute? Y'know, you don't wanna go out there in some scruffy old anything. Y'know, it was a hard niche to figure out fashion (laughs) wise. The girls today; they wear the top designers, they read Vogue -- we weren't into that stuff, we were hippies. We weren't gonna be wearing Armani gowns. You had to have something that was warm enough and cool enough. "
Linda Ronstadt, who has recently revealed her battle with Parkinson's disease, has been included on the shortlist for the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. Final ballot results will be announced early next year.
