Quick Takes On '14 Songwriters Hall of Fame, Keith Richards, And Kinks Dave Davies
The shortlist for inductees for the 2014 Songwriters Hall of Fame has been announced. Although still a while away from the final list being formulated, some of the artists up for consideration on the upcoming ballot are Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, the Kinks' Ray Davies, Madonna, John Mellencamp, Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson, Sade, Cyndi Lauper, Linda Perry, and Mark James -- best known for writing the Elvis Presley classics "Suspicious Minds," "Always On My Mind," and "Moody Blue." The final list of inductees will be announced in February.

The Songwriters Hall Of Fame 45th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner and Gala will be held in New York City on June 12th, 2014. Among the 2013 Hall of Fame inductees were Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Foreigner's Mick Jones and Lou Gramm, Eagles collaborator J.D. Souther, '60s British songsmith Tony Hatch, and '80s songwriter Holly Knight. (The Associated Press)

A 69-year-old Connecticut man was busted after telling authorities that he was building a bomb for Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards. The alleged bomb-maker, Joseph Callahan, called police last week to report a burglary. When the cops came to investigate, they found, "a terrifying arsenal of guns and explosives, including roughly 100 pounds of ammonium nitrate -- the same chemical used in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing." Callahan told the police that he planned to give Richards -- also a Connecticut resident -- the bomb he was building, not to harm him, but as a gift. Callahan was placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold and charged with a massive 112 counts of "illegal possession of explosives, reckless endangerment, and manufacture of bombs." (TMZ.com)

Kinks guitarist Dave Davies is hoping fans across the globe will help him finance a new documentary capturing footage of him both on and off the stage. Davies, who suffered a stroke in 2004, is seeking $30,000 via IndieGogo to help finance the project. (Ultimate Classic Rock)
