The Eagles Up LA Forum Residency To Six Nights
The Eagles have just tagged on three additional 2014 shows to their run at L.A.'s newly refurbished Forum. The band has just announced concerts for January 22nd, 24th, and 25th -- on top of the shows already on the books for January 14th, 17th, and 18th. Although there's been no confirmation, some insiders are whispering that the L.A. stand might be the subject of the tour's live CD/DVD release, although nothing has been announced by the band's camp.

The Eagles are celebrating their 40th anniversary on the current tour, and this year marks bassist Timothy B. Schmit's 35th anniversary of replacing co-founder Randy Meisner. Schmit told us that Don Henley and Glenn Frey made it clear that in joining the band he would be both pulling his weight and reaping the rewards of being a full-on Eagle: "It seemed like a really good fit, and their intention was that I was gonna be one of them -- I wasn't gonna be a side guy. And they, they specifically talked to me about, 'We need at least a song for you to do lead on. At least.' And we worked on that."

The 2014 shows will mark the 20th anniversary of not only the Eagles Hell Freezes Over reunion concert, album and world tour -- but also of guitarist Joe Walsh's 20th year of sobriety. Timothy B. Schmit admits that like the rest of Walsh's friends, he worried about the damage he was doing to himself: "I certainly did my share of worrying about him -- and even after the Eagles broke up, for a while, we both played in Ringo's (All Starr) Band for a tour, 'couple tours. Um. . . I used to really worry about him and I had a lot of talks with Joe. And when he came back and was sober, we knew he was kind of delicate. Yeah, he told me, y'know, he was scared to death -- he didn't know if he could play sober. Of course everybody knew except for him, he just had to. . . he just had to get up there and do it."
