Report: Paul McCartney Tapping Sean Penn And Brad Pitt For New Video
Paul McCartney is hoping to score Brad Pitt to star in his next video -- with Sean Penn reportedly having already filmed his cameo. McCartney made news last year when he enlisted the help of Natalie Portman -- for her second McCartney video -- and Johnny Depp to star in his "My Valentine" clip. Portman had first appeared in McCartney's 2007 video for "Dance Tonight."

A source close to McCartney told tv3.ie, "'Macca' has the biggest pulling power in the industry. He can get anyone he wants because he's such a legend. A stellar list of people has been drawn up but Brad and Sean are the big names. Sean jumped at the chance to appear alongside Sir Paul and Macca is confident Brad will follow suit. It depends on his film scheduling." No word on when the clip will eventually be aired.

McCartney told us that he's always preferred straight-ahead performance videos than over-the-top big budget clips: "You suddenly had to be a short filmmaker as well, and not all of us liked it. I must say occasionally it was like, 'oh my God,' and the process was kind of quite wearing. Y'know, you'd kind of farm it out to three or four directors who you thought were hot, who would come back with 'I see you. . .' -- it was a little bit like a comedy sketch -- 'I see you on a mountain top in Tibet wearing nothing but a loin cloth. The sun god shines down. . .' And you're going 'Oh no -- next one!"

Last night (September 23rd) in L.A. McCartney stopped traffic on Hollywood Boulevard when he performed on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live. McCartney, who chatted with Kimmel early on in the show, was shown performing his current single, "New," and the 1968 Beatles' classic "Lady Madonna."

Among the other songs performed for the crowd and streamed live were: "Magical Mystery Tour," "Save Us," "Junior's Farm," "Jet," "Birthday," "Another Day," "Everybody Out There," "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da," "Band On The Run," "Back In The U.S.S.R.," "Day Tripper," "Let It Be," and "Hey Jude."

Paul McCartney's upcoming album, New, will be released on October 15th.
