Graham Nash Thinks Bridge School Gig Will Lead To CSNY Tour
Although nothing has been announced, fans are already buzzing about the prospects for a 2014 Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young tour. The chances for a reunion of CSN with Neil Young were greatly reduced back in 2012 when Young left old friend Stephen Stills high and dry at the 11th hour during the planning of a Buffalo Springfield reunion tour -- but things are looking up with CSNY booked to play Young's Bridge School Benefit shows on October 26th and 27th in Northern California.
Graham Nash spoke about the prospects of the first CSNY road trek since the group's 2006 Freedom Of Speech tour, telling Billboard: "It's not been spoken, but it's certainly in the air. When Neil goes, 'Hey Willy, you guys want to do the Bridge?,' I know what he means. He wants to hear us. He wants to know if we're singing good. Why? Just for the six songs at the Bridge? No, I think Neil is thinking (about) next year -- but that's only my opinion."
Nash went on to shed light on the long- awaited CSNY 1974 live collection set for a March release, complete with a 128-page booklet: "I think it's gonna f***ing stump people. We were a really good band. Wait 'til you hear it. It's f***ing stupendous! Each show was about three and a half, four hours long. I listened to every f***ing note that we did, chose what I considered to be the best delivery of the song and the best grooves, and those are the ones that are on there."
Out this week is Graham Nash's autobiography, Wild Takes: A Rock & Roll Life. Graham Nash became the final member of CSNY to score a second Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honor when his first band the Hollies was included among the 2010 inductees. We asked Nash about his final days with Hollies before splitting for L.A. and forming CSN: "I'd begun to change a great deal. I'd begun to smoke dope -- I didn't drink anymore and I began to not be on the same page as the Hollies. And I remember in one particular night I wrote 'Teach Your Children,' 'Lady Of The Island,' and 'Right Between The Eyes' -- all in one night. They didn't want to record my songs; that and with the fact that I'd heard me and David and Stephen sing together, um, I was gone."
Crosby, Stills, & Nash will next perform on October 5th in Bournemouth, England.
The 2013 Bridge School Benefit will run on October 26th and 27th at Mountain View, California's Shoreline Amphitheatre.
