Paul Simon Releasing 15-CD Box Of Solo Collected Works
On October 15th Paul Simon will release the 15-CD retrospective, Paul Simon - The Complete Albums Collection. The set features all of Simon's solo work -- including the 1965 album, The Paul Simon Songbook, which was recorded and released between Simon & Garfunkel's 1964 debut, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. and the duo's 1966 breakthrough collection, Sounds Of Silence.
The album features all of Simon's studio and live sets -- The Paul Simon Songbook (1965), Paul Simon (1972), There Goes Rhymin' Simon (1973), Paul Simon In Concert: Live Rhymin' (1974), Still Crazy After All These Years (1975), One-Trick Pony (1980), Hearts And Bones (1983), Graceland (1986), The Rhythm Of The Saints (1990), Paul Simon's Concert In The Park - August 15, 1991 (1991), Songs From The Capeman (1997), You're The One (2000), Surprise (2006), and So Beautiful Or So What (2011).
All the albums feature the same bonus tracks as found on Simon's last box set -- The Studio Recordings 1972-2000 -- with no bonus cuts for the albums released since them -- Surprise and So Beautiful Or So What. The only album missing from the box set is 2012's Live In New York City.
Paul Simon told us that he feels that there's a general unifying theme that can be heard in all of his songs, from his earliest work through the present: "Rhythm, and like, sounds and how words flow together, and humor and serious thoughts -- or even heartache, y'know, all in the same song. It's just a reflection of what's going on in my life. So, its not inaccurate to say those things."
