Keith Richards Prepping Third Solo Album
Keith Richards is nearing completion on his third solo album, which will mark his first solo studio set since 1992's Main Offender. According to insider reports, the album will once again enlist members his side band, the X-Pensive Winos -- along with other members of the extended Rolling Stones touring ensemble.
Richards spoke about the still-unfinished album with Mojo, and revealed, "I've been cutting stuff with Steve Jordan. For the last couple of years, we get together and lay down tracks for a possible album. There's some great stuff in the can, we're just polishing things up and waiting for the right time to put it out. Maybe after this year with the Stones.
Mick Jagger feels that Keith Richards ultimately following his lead by starting his own solo career made him a better musician and record producer: "I think the experience with making his own records has made him more disciplined than he would've like to be. (Laughs) He's forced to be!"
We asked Keith Richards if he's got any solid advice for new bands who are aiming to one day celebrate decades of great work together: "Yeah, get out of the business and just get into the fun of it. It's a matter of the joy of working with other people and being able to turn yourself into one thing. It's a functioning gang, if y'know what I mean -- with no ill intentions (laughs)." )
