Jimi Hendrix Biopic To Premiere At Toronto Film Festival
Thursday, July 25, 2013
The new Jimi Hendrix biopic, All Is By My Side, will have its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September. The announcement was recently made on the festival's website with a synopsis that reads, "Jimmy James, an unknown backup guitarist, left New York City for London, England in 1966. A year later he returned - as Jimi Hendrix. All Is By My Side brings authenticity and poignancy to the story of the man behind the legend, and of the people who loved and inspired him."
The film stars Andre 3000 as Jimi Hendrix and The White Queen's Ashley Charles as a young Keith Richard. The film was directed by Ridley Scott and also stars Hayley Atwell, Imogen Poots and Burn Gorman. It was shot in Wicklow, Ireland, last summer.
Since the Hendrix's family wasn't inboard with the project, it will not feature any of the late star's music. The only performances in the movie will feature Hendrix singing covers of The Beatles and Muddy Waters which he frequently did in the '60s.
Hendrix died mysteriously in September of 1970 and his cause of death was listed as "barbiturate intoxication and inhalation of vomit."
