Rolling Stones Announce The Release Of 'Hyde Park Live' Project
Earlier this month, the Rolling Stones played two sold out shows at London's Hyde Park on July 6th and July 13th. The concerts took place almost 44 years to the day after their legendary free concert in the park shortly after the death of guitarist Brian Jones.
Now the group is treating fans to an exclusive iTunes only release of live material recorded at both shows titled, The Rolling Stones - Hyde Park Live.
Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood performed all of their hits which included set-opener "Start Me Up," "Paint It Black" and "Sympathy for the Devil." In the past, Wood shared the group has become a well oiled machine: "Oh, we're still working on riffs, and tightening up. I think it's the best we've been. It's a pretty unsaid thing in a way, though, we're blessed with this kind of interplay, that we don't have to talk about a lot, we just do it."
Billboard's Paul Sexton shared his thoughts on the July 6th show, He said, "In a quarter-century of watching the Stones, I don't think I've ever seen them all smile so much on stage, nor maintain quite such momentum throughout two hours of classic hits. On a glorious summer's evening, all of Hyde Park gazed in awe at Mick Jagger's boundless showmanship on the vast video screens, behind the giant model trees that framed the stage, and had a collective I'll-have-what-he's-having moment."
The Rolling Stones - Hyde Park Live will be available exclusively through iTunes until August 19th. The set's complete track listing includes: "Start Me Up," "It's Only Rock 'N' Roll," "Tumbling Dice," "Emotional Rescue," "Street Fighting Man," "Ruby Tuesday," "Doom And Gloom," "Paint It Black," "Honky Tonk Women," "You Got The Silver," "Before They Make Me Run," "Miss You," "Midnight Rambler," "Gimme Shelter," "Jumpin' Jack Flash," "Sympathy For The Devil," "Brown Sugar," "You Can't," "Always Get What You Want," and "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction."
