The Sopranos' James Gandolfini Remembered By Music World
Many major players in the music world have taken to social media to pay their respects to actor James Gandolfini, who died on Tuesday (June 19th) at age 51 of a heart attack while in Italy. Gandolfini, who will always be best remembered for his legendary and iconic portrayal as mob boss Tony Soprano on HBO's The Sopranos, is being grieved my millions -- including his former cast mate, Steven Van Zandt, who said: "I have lost a brother and a best friend. The world has lost one of the greatest actors of all time. Maureen and I send our deepest sympathy and love to Deborah, Michael, Lily, and all of Jimmy's family."
We asked Van Zandt during his final days on The Sopranos about the parallels between the show and working with the E Street Band: "There is a similarity in the working environment which I need, which is, y'know, working with friends and working in an environment where it's very much a family, very much a, a team, very much a group of people working towards the same end. And not a lot of -- or not any, really -- ego conflicts or attitudes or a lot of drama. I don't have the patience for that."
Journey: "It's truly an honor to have been able to share one of the greatest moments ever in TV history with James Gandolfini. He was an amazing actor -- taken way too young -- and he'll be missed. Our condolences go out to his family."
Joe Perry: "James Gandolfini what a nice guy, so funny and sweet. He will be sorely missed. Our deepest condolences to his family."
Joey Kramer: "RIP James Gandolfini a great talent taken too soon."
Sebastian Bach: "51 is way too young to go. This is even scarier than the Sopranos RIP James Gandolfini you managed to make television incredible #ThankYou"

Boy George: Very sad about James Gandolfini. Rest in peace!"
Rob Thomas: "RIP James Gandolfini. Such a great actor. More than just tony soprano and that would have been a lot on its own."
Living Color's Vernon Reid: "James Gandolfini was able to breath life into the Gangster Archtype-He stands w Cagney, Robertson, Garfield, Brando; w a character from TV!!" - Vernon Reid
Suzanne Vega: "James Gandolfini. My brother Tim had a drink with him once. Said he was very much himself, like the Soprano character. Shocked to hear news"
Rosanne Cash: "Jesus. Now James Gandolfini is gone. His son Michael went to pre-school with my son. He was the sweetest guy in the world. What a loss."
The Mavericks' Raul Malo: "Slim Whitman, Chet Flippo, and James Gandolfini...RIP. please no more. The world can't handle it."
