Yes Announces 'Yestival' One Day Prog Fest
Yes has announced its first-ever festival "Yestival" -- a "day-into-night musical adventure in full quadraphonic sound" to take place on August 3rd at Camden, New Jersey's Susquehanna Bank Center. The band will perform 1971's The Yes Album and 1972's Close To The Edge as well as other material. Support acts for the show will feature the premiere sanctioned Peter Gabriel-era Genesis tribute band The Musical Box, Renaissance featuring Anne Haslam, Carl Palmer's ELP Legacy, and other acts still to be announced.
Yes has been wowing fans with its current "three album tour," in which the band tackles Close To The Edge, Going For The One, and The Yes Album all in one show. Drummer Alan White told us that the show's concept is aimed at keeping the fans excited and the band on its toes: "We wanted an easy time and a hard time. In other words, we wanted some challenges to rise to make the three album concept work. But at the same time we didn't want three albums we hadn't been playing for years to be the total ingredients. So, as you can see, we've mixed and matched. The Yes Album is the easy stuff, 'cause a lot of it we played a lot. And then the challenges were in bringing back Close To The Edge, which wasn't too tricky, but there completing the album and doing Going For The One really did give us some challenges."
