John Fogerty has just announced the initial five dates of his upcoming fall tour in support of his new "duets" collection, Wrote A Song For Everyone. Fogerty had already announced a two-night Nashville stand on September 27th and 28th at Zac Brown's Southern Ground Music & Food Festival at Riverfront Park. The new dates kick off on October 10th at L.A.'s Nokia Theatre L.A. Live, and play two more
California shows in Paso Robles and Berkeley, before -- as of now -- wrapping on November 12th at New York City's Beacon Theatre.
Wrote A Song For Everyone features high profile collaborations on Fogerty's classic songs -- including many of his Creedence Clearwater Revival standards. Highlights on the set include Bob Seger on "Who'll Stop The Rain," "Fortunate Son" with Foo Fighters, "Lodi" with Fogerty's sons Shane and Tyler -- along with "Born On The Bayou" with Kid Rock.
Since he returned to performing his Creedence classics in concert over 15 years ago, John Fogerty has maintained that the songs are able to reflect his past while staying a part of his future: "I sure don't want to be a 'retro' person at all. Y'know, that's one of the reasons I never wanted to tour under the name Creedence Clearwater -- whatever. Those days are long, long, gone, and I'm just too current and competitive -- I mean, I have things to do now."
