Superstar Madonna is lending her support to the Sound of Change Live concert which will be held in London on Saturday, June 1st at the Twickenham Sports Stadium. The event, which will be broadcast to 150 countries, will feature performances by Beyonce, Florence & The Machine, Jennifer Lopez, Rita Ora, Iggy Azalea, Ellie Goulding, Haim, John Legend and Timbaland.
The concert is to raise funds for over a hundred different worldwide project that support women and girls such as to provide health care to Syrian refugees, fight female sexual mutilation in Mali, provide safe haven for domestic violence victims in Lima and efforts to prevent childbirth deaths in Sierra Leone.
Madonna will be a presenter during the concert which will also be attended Gloria Steinem and Bishop Desmond, according to Billboard.com.
In a released statement, Madonna told Reuters, "Sixty percent of the children in the world not in school are girls . . . Two-thirds of the world's illiterate are women. I do not accept this. We need to change this and we will change this."
