Queen Releasing Classic 1982 Show From 'Hot Space' Tour
On May 21st Queen will release the two-DVD Queen On Fire: Live At The Bowl, filmed during the band's Hot Space tour. The collection features the band's full concert on June 5th, 1982, at Britain's Milton Keynes Bowl and includes 25 classic Queen favorites including, "Fat Bottomed Girls," "Play The Game," "Somebody To Love," "Under Pressure," "Flash," "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Tie Your Mother Down," "Another One Bites the Dust," "We Will Rock You" and We Are the Champions."
Drummer Roger Taylor spoke about the show in the disc's press release, saying, "We hadn't seen the footage for years, but when we looked at it we couldn't believe how good it was. We were on fire."
The bonus DVD features 1982 backstage interviews with Freddie Mercury, Brian May, and Roger Taylor, along with performances filmed on May 12th, 1982 in Vienna, Austria and on November 3rd, 1982 at Tokyo's Seibu Stadium.
Roger Taylor admitted to us that he and Brian May are amazed that there's still a tremendous amount of interest in Queen's music: "I think it's impossible to tell at the time that something's going to have longevity. We managed to keep a really great career for 20 years, so we know we had some kind of longevity, but we didn't really think that all this time later that the songs would still be or some of the songs would still be such a part of the wallpaper."
