Quick Takes On Eric Clapton, Elton John, Peter Frampton, And The Monkees
Eric Clapton brings his Crossroads Guitar Festival to New York's Madison Square Garden Arena tonight and tomorrow (April 12th and 13th). The concerts benefit the Crossroads Centre drug rehab center located in Antigua, which was founded by Clapton. Both nights will feature the core lineup of Clapton, the Allman Brothers Band, Gary Clark Jr., Sonny Landreth, and John Mayer. Clapton will be opening tonight's show with an acoustic set and is expected to sit in with many of the artists over the two nights. Other players set to appear over the two shows are B.B. King, Jeff Beck, Booker T. Jones, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Vaughan, Jonny Lang, Keb Mo, Keith Urban, Los Lobos, Robbie Robertson, Taj Mahal, Vince Gill, and Robert Cray, among others.
Elton John and Bono have signed on to appear at the 25th anniversary gala for the Robin Hood Foundation in on May 13th in New York City. Mary J. Blige will also perform with Justin Timberlake and his wife, Jessica Biel, co-hosting the gala to raise funds for City-based organizations fighting poverty in the "Big Apple." (Gibson.com)

The Monkees -- Micky Dolenz, Mike Nesmith, and Peter Tork -- have announced the first date of their 2013 summer tour. The band will play on August 14th, in Saratoga, California at the Mountain Winery. So far no other dates have officially been announced. The tour marks the band's second since the 2012 death of Davy Jones and the second trek Nesmith has committed to since 1997. The 2013 dates will hit the markets skipped during the band's 2012 mini-tour. (Monkees.net)
