Meat Loaf Is Quitting The Road
Meat Loaf is quitting the road. Although the singer has been promising his retirement over the past few years, he claims that his current tour of Europe is really his last, telling Reuters, "This is really it. . . I just don't want to travel anymore. I outweigh (Mick) Jagger by about 100 pounds (and that counts for something. He hasn't seen the wear and tear. . . When your name is on the marque, you either get the glory or you get the hits. Over the years, a lot of stones and a lot of arrows have been flying my way. You expect that."

Meat Loaf has struggled with various ailments while on the road over the past few years, including being diagnosed with a cyst on his vocal chords, knee replacement surgery, along with several episodes of collapsing and blackouts he attributed to "past concussion injuries and his health issues on asthma."

Over the years Meat Loaf has recorded for a number of record labels -- namely Rare Earth, Epic, MCA, Arista, Virgin, Sanctuary, and Hip-O -- to name but a few. He says that he's actually shocked at how much Meat Loaf product is actually out on the market: "I've been on every record company known to man. And what happens when you leave a record company, you have no control over what they're going to do next. Like y'know (Bruce) Springsteen has been lucky enough to have been on CBS his entire career, so y'know, you feel like a whore. And they put out records you know nothing about, and you see (album) covers and you go 'What is that?' I mean, I got a gold record in the mail from something I never even saw before."

Meat Loaf will perform tonight (April 5th) in Newcastle, England. His European tour wraps up on May 17th in Dublin, Ireland.

There are no North American shows currently on the books.
