Moody Blues frontman Justin Hayward has just announced a 10-date solo tour in support of his new solo album, Spirits Of The Western Sky. Hayward kicks of the trek on August 2nd at Homestead, Pennsylvania's Carnegie Library Music Hall and wind things down on August 17th at Atlanta, Georgia's Buckhead Theatre.
Spirits Of The Western Sky is Hayward's first solo set since 1996's The View From The Hill, and features Hayward's signature sound while exploring country, folk, and bluegrass. Also included are two techno-based re-recordings of the Moody Blues' 1988 hit "I Know You're Out There Somewhere" under the new title "Out There Somewhere."
Justin Hayward told us that he plans to hit the road in a far more laid back way than Moody Blues fans are accustomed to seeing him: "I think one other guitar player, keyboards, maybe some vocals -- that's it. Some stories, as I wrote the songs, I've been doing it the last few days and I've been surprised how well these songs work with my own guitars from home and that's how I'll do it, I think. I found out before, really, once you introduce drums, y'know -- bang, bang, splat, crash -- it's a different. . . it's a different gig."
