Was Whitney Houston Being Extorted?
FBI files have claimed that someone was extorting Whitney Houston in order to keep quiet about her private life. According to USA Today, the FBI, in response to Freedom of Information Act requests, has released 128 pages of documents of Whitney Houston -- including FBI letters and the extortion case.
In one letter dated from 1992, which was marked "extortion" by the FBI, was sent to Whitney's Nippy Inc offices in NJ. The woman who wrote the letter was a woman who Whitney considered a friend, demanded that unless the singer paid $100,000 she would revealed "certain details" about her "private life." A second letter raised the amount to $250,000 and the friend claimed to have "intimate details" about Whitney's "romantic relationships."
According to the docs, Whitney's dad sent a letter of confidentiality to the person with a considerable amount of money --which was blacked out by the FBI. The case was closed soon after.
In other news, yesterday Whitney's daughter Bobbi Kristina celebrated her 20th birthday.
