Quick Takes On Tina Turner, Eric Clapton, And The Monkees' Mike Nesmith
Tina Turner is in the process of becoming a Swiss citizen. ABC News reported that Turner, who's lived in the Zurich suburb of Kuesnacht since 1995 with her longtime partner, producer Erwin Bach, will surrender her U.S. passport after being approved by the local council after passing a civics test and interview. Turner told the German newspaper, Blick: "I'm very happy in Switzerland and I feel at home here. I cannot imagine a better place to live."

Bryan Adams, who's been a close friend of Turner's since 1984 when they duetted on his track "It's Only Love" off his Reckless album, says that above all else, Turner is a class-act who gives new meaning to the phrase "the show must go on": "The thing that was incredible about her was, she just -- and I never forgot this as long as I've ever performed -- no matter how crap I had felt before I went on stage, I just remember Tina Turner going up there and singing her heart out for everybody, and meantime she had a hundred-and-two degree fever and she was feeling terrible. And I thought well, if Tina Turner can go up there and she can give everything for five hundred people, no matter how sick I am I can make it happen too."

Eric Clapton is releasing his new album titled, Old Sock, through his own label Bushbranch Records, distributed by Surfdog Records. The new set is expected out around March 12th. Surfdog is a respected indie label, which has several high profile acts on its roster, including the Eurythmics' Dave Stewart, Brian Setzer -- along with the Stray Cats, Glen Campbell, and Joss Stone, among others. Vintage Vinyl News reported that among the tracks featured on Old Sock are: Ray Charles' "Born To Lose," Lead Belly's "Goodnight, Irene," George and Ira Gershwin's "Our Love Is Here To Stay," Jerome Kern's "The Folks Who Live On The Hill" and Gerald Marks and Seymour Simons' "All Of Me."
