the long awaited Brian Wilson biopic is now on track with one of its leading men already cast, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Actor Paul Dano, best known for his role in Little Miss Sunshine, will play the Beach Boys' leader in the film, titled, Love And Mercy. The movie will be directed by Bill Pohlad best known for serving as producer on Brokeback Mountain. Love And Mercy was written by Oren Moverman, who co-wrote the groundbreaking I'm Not There Bob Dylan movie.
Brian Wilson is clearly excited by the project and told Rolling Stone: "I am thrilled that Paul Dano has signed on to play me during one of my most creative explosions and most fulfilling musical times in my career. I still can't believe how cool it is that my life will be portrayed on the big screen, and to have Bill Pohlad as the captain of the Sloop John B is amazing! It just makes me feel so humble. I can't wait to see it with a full tub of buttered popcorn."
Around the time of the Beach Boys' 1966/1967 Smile sessions, Brian Wilson's mental illness and auditory hallucinations began in earnest, which put a horrific strain on his personal and professional life: "I remember hearing voices in my head. Voices say, ''We're gonna kill you, you gonna be murdered, you have two years to live, we're gonna sabotage your music, we're gonna kill your wife, we're gonna shoot your daughters' -- very, very, evil. Very evil kind of thing. Evil trip."
