Billy Joel & Fleetwood Mac To Headline New Orleans Jazz Fest
Billy Joel and Fleetwood Mac will headline the 2013 New Orleans Jazz Festival, which will be held in "The Big Easy" from April 26th to May 5th. Billy Joel will perform on April 27th and Fleetwood Mac will play on May 4th. Among the other high profile acts set to appear are Earth, Wind, Fire, Willie Nelson, Daryl Hall & John Oates, B.B. King, Dr. John, Patti Smith, Los Lobos, Jeffrey Osbourne, Taj Mahal & The Big Tuba Band, George Benson, Jimmy Cliff, Dave Matthews Band, Maroon 5, John Mayer, the Black Keys, and many more.
The Jazz Fest performance will mark Billy's first full on concert performance since March 11th, 2010 when he wrapped the final dates of his most recent Face To Face tour with Elton John in Albany, New York.
Billy Joel has long maintained that he could care less what people think of how manages his career, his art, or his life: "I gotta tell you -- I've never done anything to be popular. I do it because I like to do it. In 1978, I did the 52nd Street album because that's what I felt like doing. Now you can believe this or not; this is the truth -- I do what I do because I wanna do it, and because I like it, and because it feels good."
Mick Fleetwood told us that over 45 years after first forming Fleetwood Mac with the great Peter Green, he couldn't be prouder of the band become a standard bearer for surviving the music business: "I think just the basic survival element of the history of this band alone -- not only just the band that we're talking about now, but from when it first started back in England -- that it has fared against incredible odds, and is still there."
Billy Joel's next "Evening Of Questions and Answers and A Little Bit Of Music" lecture will take place on January 30th at Nashville's Langford Auditorium.
