Peter Frampton Welcoming B.B. King And Others On 'Guitar Circus' Tour
Peter Frampton is planning a three-week tour in August, dubbed Peter Frampton's Guitar Circus. The tour, which will feature deep catalogue cuts, instrumental selections, hits, and new music, will spotlight a guest guitarist, with B.B. King the first to sign on for the trek. Billboard reported: "Frampton intends to tour with the concept throughout the summer, bringing in special guests for various periods of time." So far, no dates have been announced for Frampton's Guitar Circus.

Ultimate Classic Rock reported that during a recent radio interview, Frampton revealed that he and Humble Pie drummer Jerry Shirley are currently working a compilation of all of Humble Pie's legendary 1971 Fillmore East shows, portions of which were featured on the band's classic Performance: Rockin' The Fillmore album.

Frampton, who's remained close with Shirley over the years, shed some light on what made his collaboration with Steve Marriott and Humble Pie so special at the dawn of the '70s: "The conflict of musical styles -- that's what I think made Humble Pie a very fiery band, because there was this guy with this great voice -- Steve -- and the very blues-oriented blues guitar. And then there's me, on the other side of the stage, playing very lyrical jazzy lines over a blues-rock bass, y'know, which was very different then. And that's, I think, the combination of us two, I think that's what made it so. . . It was on the edge all the time, y'know?"
