Paul McCartney Returning To 'Saturday Night Live' Next Month
Paul McCartney will be the musical host for the December 15th episode of Saturday Night Live. The episode, which will be hosted by SNL alumnus Martin Short, marks the former Beatle's fifth appearance on the NBC comedy show, having last been seen on SNL on December 11th, 2010. McCartney first appeared on the show back in 1980. McCartney and SNL creator and executive producer, Lorne Michaels, are longtime friends and both summer in the exclusive East Hampton, New York enclave.
McCartney is currently on the road and performs tonight and tomorrow (November 28th and 29th) in Edmonton. As a divorced parent sharing custody of young Beatrice, McCartney cherry-picks his live dates and mainly performs on days when she's in the care of her mom, McCartney's second wife, Heather Mills. McCartney shed light on being a father late in life: "When you do it second time around, as I have with my eight-year-old daughter, I think you're more aware. I know other people who (are in) the same situation, and you're more aware that time is fleeting, so you pay more attention. So this time around, I make time."
