New Aerosmith Album Cracks 'Billboard' Top Five
Aerosmith's first set of all-new material in 11 years, Music From Another Dimension, debuted at Number Five on the Billboard album chart, selling 63,000 copies in its first week of release. The group's last collection of new songs, 2001's Just Push Play, entered the chart at Number Two with sales of 240,000 copies. Their blues and covers package, 2004's Honkin' On Bobo, also reached Number Five
12 of the 15 tracks on the new disc were produced by Jack Douglas, who was the producer on classic early Aerosmith records like Toys In The Attic and Rocks.
The new album completes the band's contract with Columbia Records, with singer Steven Tyler indicating in a recent interview that "if the band stays together," the group is likely to go the independent or self-releasing route.
The band began a new leg of touring earlier this week and plays this Friday (November 16th) in Austin, Texas. The trek winds down on December 13th in Nashville.
