Don Felder Says New Music 'The Same Genre' As His Eagles Songs
Former Eagles guitarist Don Felder says that his new solo work is a continuation of the music he made during his time in the band. Felder has been on the road, playing select date in support of his new solo set, Road To Forever, which features such high profile guest appearances by Graham Nash and David Crosby, Steve Lukather of Toto, and Tommy Shaw of Styx.
Felder explained to, that although he's been totally confident peppering his shows with Eagles classics -- he was apprehensive incorporating new material into the show: "There was some trepidation about getting in the studio and going on tour to play new songs. About 60 percent of my performances include about 60 percent Eagles songs, many of which I wrote or co-wrote, but the reaction to the new songs has been positive. The music kind of is the same genre of the Eagles songs; it's kind of a familiar sound, but not that I tried to clone those songs."
Don Felder told us that when at its best, the chemistry of the Eagles in full force was something to be reckoned with: "Despite the friction and tension and arguing and kind of tug of war daily that went on there; the end product was really amazing work of really an amazing caliber that we all pulled from our individual strengths. Whether it was lyrics, vocals, or guitar parts, or track writing. And the combination of everyone's strengths really produced some phenomenal work."
Don Felder will next perform on November 18th in Annapolis, Maryland at Rams Head On Stage.
