Some Quick Takes on Journey, Peter Frampton, Chuck Berry, And Greg Allman
Hurricane Sandy has forced Journey's Brooklyn, New York show at the new Barclays Center to be canceled. The show, originally scheduled for tonight (October 30th), was to have also featured tour-mates Pat Benatar and Loverboy. Tickets for the show will be refunded. The storm has also forced Lynyrd Skynyrd to re-route their Simple Man cruise, which left on Sunday (October 27th) from Miami, and was supposed to make stops in Key West and Great Stirrup Cay. The Skynyrd boat will now head to Cozumel, Mexico -- although they still might face some of Sandy's wrath. (Ultimate Classic Rock)
Peter Frampton has announced his first dates of 2013, which will be in collaboration with the Cincinnati Ballet. The season closer at the Aronoff Center For The Arts will feature Frampton playing as the dance troupe performs -- with the three shows set to feature the world premiere a newly written Frampton tune for the occasion. Frampton is set to perform a matinee and evening show on April 26th and an evening show on April 27th.
During Saturday's (October 27th) American Music Masters award presentation, saluting Chuck Berry at Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the 86-year-old "Father of Rock n' Roll" admitted he's got new material ready to record for the first time since 1979, explaining, "And as soon as I can get someone to guide me -- and I do know a little about the business -- I want to push them out. I'm going to come back and push them out if you know what I mean, somehow. . . They might be old, but they are the same type of music that I have been playing."
Berry gave a few words of advices to up-and-coming performers: "Keep rocking, keep rocking. That's two words. Next word is: Be kind to your fans." (Billboard)
