George Harrison Doc Snags Multiple Emmy Noms
Martin Scorsese's George Harrison documentary, Living In The Material World, racked up Emmy Nominations in six categories. The film, which is out now on DVD, was originally aired on HBO over two nights last October. The three-and-a-half hour life-spanning documentary includes interviews with Harrison's widow and son Olivia and Dhani Harrison, his brothers Harry and the late Pete Harrison, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, George Martin, Eric Clapton, first wife Pattie Boyd, Yoko Ono, Phil Spector, Jeff Lynne, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Tom Petty, and Jackie Stewart, among others.

Living In The Material World is up for awards in the following categories:

Outstanding Nonfiction Special

Outstanding Cinematography For Nonfiction Programming

Outstanding Directing For Nonfiction Programming

Outstanding Picture Editing For Nonfiction Programming

Outstanding Sound Editing For Nonfiction Programming (Single or Multi-Camera)

Outstanding Sound Mixing For Nonfiction Programming

Eric Clapton said that it might have taken Harrison's death to show people just how great he really was: "The best thing that came out of his passing was that we all got to remember exactly what he'd contributed, y'know, as much as any of the other guys -- and maybe more so, because it was an individual achievement. Y'know, Lennon and McCartney's one thing and Paul's one thing and John's -- I think George, in my opinion, I found his work the most accessible and strongest for me to tune into."

The 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air on September 23rd on ABC-TV.
