Peter Frampton Ends 2012 Dates On A Sour Note
Peter Frampton wrapped his 2012 dates up on Saturday night (August 11th) at Asheville, North Carolina's Biltmore. Frampton's brief six-date run followed his massively successful Frampton Comes Alive 35 tour, and according to the guitarist, it ended on sour note, posting on his Facebook page: "Biltmore Estate great, sunset beautiful. Organization and security for show..... abysmal!"
Frampton didn't offer up any examples, but posted prior to the show: "Driving to Asheville, NC this afternoon to play the Biltmore Estate tonight. Wow, I have done the tour but never played there! This is our last show of the year and what a way to finish. Thanks everyone for being there and supporting my band and I for so many moons. Next year will be another marathon touring season for us. Hope to see you all again then. thx, pf."
Frampton has become a seasoned solo performed over the years, playing numerous world tours over the course of his career. He recalled to us his first dates as a solo artist on September 16th, 1972, when he opened for the J. Geils Band at Manhattan's Academy Of Music: "I blew my voice out doing the whole show. 45 minutes of flat-out -- no conservation whatsoever. So we got to the second show, and the review for the second show was, 'Great to see Frampton in a solo position. It was very surprising -- y'know, he did acoustic to electric, a little Humble Pie-ish. . . but the one amazing thing was, we never quite realized that Frampton sounded a lot, vocally, like Joe Cocker.' Well, that wasn't how I was supposed to sound! (laughs) I took it as a compliment, though."
