Starship guitarist Mark Abrahamian died on Sunday (September 2nd) of an apparent heart attack at age 46. Vintage Vinyl News reported that Abrahamian, who had just finished a Starship show with co-headliners, Boston and Survivor, collapsed and died after the post-show dinner. Abrahamian had joined the Mickey Thomas-led Starship in 2000.
The members of Starship posted a tribute to Abrahamian on their Facebook page: "We are all shocked and saddened at the sudden loss of our guitar player Mark Abrahamian. Mark was a kind, thoughtful and innovative soul. He was also a friend and family member. Mark also happened to be one hell of a guitar player. We are devastated by the loss of our brother and just dealing with it the best we can."
Over the years, Mark Abrahamian performed with such notables as Jimmi Jameson of Survivor, Bobby Kimble of Toto, Mike Reno of Loverboy, Chuck Negron of Three Dog Night, Fee Waybill of the Tubes, Pat Travers, Doug Fieger of the Knack, and Christopher Cross.
