Rod Stewart 'Merry Christmas, Baby' Set For Next Month
Rod Stewart will release his first Christmas collection on October 30th, called, Merry Christmas, Baby. The studio set, which is Rod's debut album as part of his new deal with Verve, is produced by renowned pop producer David Foster. Rod said of the album, "I have always been tempted to do a Christmas album and now that I once again have young children, the timing couldn't be better. Additionally, Merry Christmas, Baby gave me a chance to reunite with David Foster." Rod, Foster, and Foster's daughter Amy, collaborated on the sole original track on the album, "Red-Suited Super Man."
Among the highlights on the album are duets with Michael Buble on "Winter Wonderland," Mary J. Blige on "We Three Kings," Cee-Lo Green and Trombone Shorty on "Merry Christmas, Baby," Dave Koz supplies the saxophone on "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!," and "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?" -- which is performed as a 'virtual' duet with Ella Fitzgerald featuring Chris Botti.
Once again it's looking more and more like 2013 might play out as yet another year where Rod Stewart won't have the time to hook up with his reunited Faces bandmates. Drummer Kenney Jones remains confident that Rod will rejoin the band once his schedule allows it: "The problem with Rod is, y'know, his manager keeps booking him a year or two in advance and so every time we get close to doing something, everyone's schedule gets in the way. It will happen at some point for the right reasons when time prevails, y'know?"
On September 19th, Rod Stewart will kick off his nine-date stand at Las Vegas' Colosseum At Caesars Palace.
