Led Zeppelin Reunion Coming To The Big Screen???
The big Led Zeppelin announcement set for today (September 13th) seems to be for both the CD and DVD of their 2007 reunion concert -- as well as a limited one-night only theatrical run of the film. Rolling Stone quoted Jimmy Page's manager, Peter Mensch, who tweeted about the upcoming DVD -- tentatively set for a November 22nd release date -- posting: "It's almost here. I've seen it and heard it. Almost five years to the day." Ultimate Classic Rock reported that a listing at claims "Led Zeppelin: Celebration Day coming to theaters in over 40 territories worldwide on October 17th.
The surviving members of Led Zeppelin -- Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones -- will be among the recipients of the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors, which will air on CBS on December 26th. Vintage Vinyl News reported that the other honorees include Buddy Guy, David Letterman, Dustin Hoffman, and ballerina Natalia Makarova.
Co-founding bassist John Paul Jones told us that band politics never came into play when the band was working up new material. He told us that Zeppelin always understood the importance of quality control: "We always made music in the same way -- we all know whether something works or not. When we wrote music together, y'know, if somebody came up with an idea, if it didn't work, you didn't have to be taken to a room quietly to say, 'Y'know, we can't use this,' y'know? Everybody knows, 'Hey, this is rubbish! Y'know, (laughs) let's do something else!' And we'd go on to something that does work, and then everybody knows it works."
