John Taylor gets personal in his new memoir, In the Pleasure Groove: Love, Death & Duran Duran, opening up about his previous drug dependency.

 

The Duran Duran bassist says that shortly after the band rose to fame in the 1980s, he got caught up with cocaine and Ecstasy. He told People.com that during that time period, he "didn't know how to turn on the off switch." But a 1994 visit to rehab changed that. Gone were the days of failed relationships and hard partying.

 

Still, Taylor says the recovery "never really stops," adding, "You have to find the right direction for your energies."

 

Looking ahead, Duran Duran plans to record a new album in 2013, the follow-up to 2010's All You Need is Now.

 

The band was forced to scrap a series of recent tour dates after keyboardist Nick Rhodes fell ill.

In the Pleasure Groove: Love, Death & Duran Duran is due out on October 16th.
