Glenn Frey has just announced a string of shows for Australia early next year. Frey, who released his latest album, the mainly standards set, After Hours last spring, will play a total of four shows in St. Kilda, Perth, and Sydney in February and March.
Although Frey has kept busy with Eagles tours and recordings sessions, we asked him why the two-decade wait between solo projects: "There hasn't been any time. I'd rather not fail at the husband/parent level. I feel that's the important thing that I'm doing right now. And I've got two kids off to college and I have a 10-year-old son and, y'know, I'm still doing stuff, so, y'know, it's a big life. It's busy and there hasn't been a lot of time."
Frey told us that Eagles work pretty much consumed all his music making time over the past decade: "Y'know, there really wasn't any time, to some degree. And, y'know, the (Eagles') Long Road Out Of Eden album was -- took quite a few years of my time to get it together and then once we put the record out we started touring and we went in a sort of five-year cycle where we went around the world and back to markets we under-played. . . it was a long cycle."
The Eagles will next perform on November 17th at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena.
