The Who Announce Opening Act, 'Quad' Doc Coming To VH1
The Who has announced that soul rockers Vintage Trouble will serve as the band's opening act for the first leg of their upcoming North American tour. Vintage Trouble has previously warmed crowds up for the likes of Bon Jovi, Lenny Kravitz, and Brian May, among others. The Who has also just announced the full musical lineup of their Quadrophenia & More tour, which kicks off on November 1st in Sunrise, Florida.

In addition to Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey, the Who's show will feature longtime sidemen Zak Starkey on drums, Pino Palladino on bass, Townshend's younger brother Simon Townshend on guitar and backing vocals, along with Quadrophenia session pianist Chris Stainton, Loren Gold on keyboards and backing vocals, and Daltrey solo sideman Frank Simes, who'll serve as the musical director while contributing keyboards and backing vocals.

On October 31st, the Who's new documentary, Quadrophenia: Can You See The Real Me?, will premiere on VH1 Classic.

Roger Daltrey told us that he's pumped to be returning to Quadrophenia as a concert piece for the first time in 15 years: "It seems daunting, when you look, it's 37 shows, but when I'm up there singing, I don't wanna be anywhere else. That's what it -- for me, singing is the ultimate high, and to sing these songs, it's incredibly challenging -- but I kinda like that. You have to fight to do it, and I've always enjoyed a good battle."

Simon Townshend is currently out promoting his new album, Looking Out Looking In. Both he and Zak Starkey made their debut with the Who during the last Quadrophenia tour in 1996/1997. We asked him if he found it tedious having to play such a powerful and rigid piece as Quadrophenia night after night: "Well, it's cool when the music's that good. I think if the music wasn't that good, it would just become a day job, being onstage having to do everything so rigidly. Yeah, it could become mundane in other bands, but in the Who it doesn't. Anything can happen (laughs) anytime." anytime)

Pete Townshend's long awaited autobiography, Who I Am, will be published on October 8th.
