All Six Suspects in Cortland Home Invasion Robbery Now in Custody
All six suspects wanted in connection with a home invasion robbery Tuesday night on Water Street in Cortland are now in custody.
Police say the six men are accused of forcing their way into a home at 24 Water Street in order to steal drugs and money.
Just before 10:30 Tuesday night the six men used what is believed to be a pellet gun and a knife to hold five people hostage while they ransacked the house.
During the robbery the suspects are accused of breaking open a fire safe containing a pellet gun. They took a second fire safe containing $45 in cash and a small quantity of marijuana. The men are also accused of taking two cell phones from the victims.
Police say the men knew the victims and this was a drug related theft. The men intended to steal a quantity of marijuana.
City Police arrested 16 year old Bryshawn Lewis of 32 Lincoln Ave., 24 year old Robert Wade of 46 Homer Ave., and 20 year old Nathaniel Wright of 12 Hubbard Street; shortly after the break-in.
Police say they have now arrested the other three suspects including 24 year old Bayshawn Barlow of 12 Hubbard St., 18 year old Quadir Artis of 500 N. Cliffe Court, and 20 year old Shyquane Pittman of 32 Lincoln Ave. The last individual surrendered to police last night.
All six have been charged with robbery, burglary, conspiracy, petit larceny, and menacing.
All have been arraigned and sent to the Cortland County Jail on various bail amounts. They will return to Court Friday for further proceedings.
