SUNY Students Push Legislature to Provide Better Retirement Benefits to Campus Police Officers
SUNY Students are calling on Governor Cuomo and State Lawmakers to allow campus police officers to receieve the same retirment and pension benefits as State Troopers.

The Executive Board of the SUNY Student Assembly has sent a Memorandum to the Governor and the legislature urging that SUNY Police Officers be given access to the same retirement system currently enjoyed by New York State Police.

Currently, SUNY Police Officers participate in the New York State and Local Employees Retirement System.

By signing off on this legislation, these officers will be able to participate in a retirement system that provides far greater benefits.

The Executive Board of the Student Assembly believes that by offering greater benefits the State Colleges can attract and retain higher quality campus police officers.
