Farmers Now Eligible For 2012 Crop Damage Assistance
Tuesday, July 22, 2014
Beginning Tuesday, farmers in 51 upstate New York counties can apply for relief if they suffered losses due to a spring freeze in 2012.
The U.S. Agriculture Department will accept applications to the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program through Sept. 22, according to a news release from U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer.
Retroactive aid was authorized in the 2014 Farm Bill for losses to 2012 fruit crops grown on trees and bushes.
Eligible farmers may contact their Farm Service Agency office for additional information and to apply.
