Friday, July 18, 2014
Cortland County continued to lose private sector jobs over the past year, despite growth and expansion by multiple businesses.
The latest state labor statistics show that from June of 2013 to June of this year Cortland County lost 100 non-farm jobs.
The number of employed individuals in the county declined from 18,900 to 18,800. That's a less than 1% decline.
Meanwhile private sector employment increased in neighboring Tompkins County over the same time period. Education and health services saw the most growth adding 400 jobs over the past year.
