Cortland Man Accused of Stealing Hand Gun and Selling it For Heroin

A Cortland man is facing felony charges after stealing a handgun and selling it for drugs.
25 year old Francis Evangelista of 17 Pine Street, Cortland was arrested Saturday and charged with with felony counts of grand larceny and weapon possession. Evangelista is also charged with a misdemeanor count of possessing a controlled substance.
Cortland Police say Evangelista took a .45 caliber handgun from a home on Pine Street and sold the weapon in Syracuse using the money to buy heroin.
When he was arrested Evangelista was found in possession of a small quantity of heroin.
Evangelista was arraigned in City Court and sent to the County Jail on $2500 cash or $5 thousand dollars bond; he's due back in Court today.
