Tompkins Lawmakers Urge Drugstores to Stop Selling Tobacco Products
The Tompkins County Legislature is urging local pharmacies to stop selling tobacco products.

A resolution backed by the Tompkins County Legislature last week says it's a conflict of interest for pharmacies to sell tobacco products.

The legislature voted 12-1 Tuesday to back a resolution calling for ending the sale of tobacco products in pharmacies and in other stores with pharmacy departments.

County Public Health Director Frank Kruppa said that the resolution does not have any statutory or legal authority, but is an educational message to encourage pharmacies to not sell tobacco.
